Abstract
The study provides an overview of the tourism sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its strategic initiatives, with particular emphasis on the "Discover Saudi Arabia" campaign aimed at achieving the desired goals of the Saudi Vision 2030. By issuing modern tourist visas, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aims to position itself as an attractive tourist destination for adventurous travelers. Leveraging its unique geographical location and historical significance, as evidenced in Al-Qassim region, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia seeks to attract tourists and preserve its rich heritage. The diverse terrain of the Qassim region, along with its archaeological sites dating back to the Paleolithic era, contributes to its allure. Furthermore, the region's historical significance as a transit hub and pilgrimage stopover enhances its attractiveness. Linguistically, the term "Qassim" reflects its sandy terrain and abundant water resources, further emphasizing its historical and cultural significance. Archaeological studies reveal evidence of early human settlement dating back to the first millennium BCE, while its geological formations provide opportunities for geotourism and economic development in the Middle East. The historical and archaeological significance of Al-Qassim region is rooted in its role as a commercial center and hub for cultural exchange in ancient Arabia. Key centers such as Domat Al-Jandal and Al-Ula, alongside tribal settlements like the Banu Kindah and Banu Assad, highlight the region's historical importance. Archaeological discoveries, including stone circles, tools, pottery, and inscriptions, provide insights into ancient civilizations and cultural practices. The region's flat terrain, abundant water resources, and favorable climatic conditions facilitated human settlement and various crafts such as animal husbandry and agriculture. The distinctive terrain of the region, characterized by flat land and sedimentary formations, facilitated human settlement and the establishment of trade routes. The various valleys, water sources, and oases supported tribal stability, while geological formations provided opportunities for fossil and petrified wood discoveries, enhancing the region's scientific importance. Overall, Al-Qassim region serves as a witness to the rich history and cultural heritage of Arabia, attracting the attention of researchers and tourists alike. Strategic initiatives to develop tourism infrastructure and promote local heritage align with the Saudi Vision for Tourism and Economic Growth. Through active efforts in conservation and strategic development initiatives, the region is poised to become a prominent tourist destination, contributing to the Kingdom's tourism sector and economic development in line with the Saudi Vision 2030
